Antique Tikka Box Poster Bontoc woman’s belt (akusan)Large red lacquered tikka pot or tikka boxes. Hand carved from single hollowed out pieces of teak, then painted with red lacquer, these lidded pots traditionally hold the red tikka vermillion (bindi) powder used for marking the forehead with a red dot or stripe during Hindu ceremonies. These lovely, old and large pieces make beautiful statement pieces for the home. They date to the early 1900s. We have just ten pieces, all approximately the same size
